[ ...that explains the awesome sword skills, at least? ...did she say anything offensive about God or gods in general in August, she doesn't think she did—mmmm. She lets her hands drop and goes back to playing with her book's pages. ]
My other self wasn't exactly human either, as far as I can tell.
[ Yato hasn't been a god long enough to feel offended on behalf of all gods or anything, so she's good... He tosses the pieces of the first aid kit back into their box and shuts the lid. ]
Isn't that the question? [ She doesn't mean to sound self-deprecating, but it edges there. Mmmm... ] She wasn't a god, though. I don't think so, at the very least. She inhabited a place between dream and reality called "The Velvet Room," and played assistant to an older man. The room was really a rather large elevator, ever ascending upwards...
[ ...She knows it sounds weird. She knows that. ]
She fought a monster on the moon once, though, without any issue that a normal human might have. [ yknow like breathing in space. ] So I truly can't classify her as one? But I'm not really sure what to call her, in that case.
[ At... least most of this she's told people other than Yato before. Granted, only because it came up at the meeting? But that's not really the point. ]
She was quite focused on the task at hand—taking down an incredibly large, two-headed beast—but when I think about that memory, all I can think of it how pretty Earth looked from where we were. It wasn't a thought of hers—I suppose she doesn't think too much of it, if she can simply teleport where she pleases—but it was quite stunning regardless.
It was also very... quiet, once she'd taken care of business. Oppressively, deafeningly so. That's all I have from that, though, aside from the fact that she and Thanatos were incredibly strong. Their foe was far larger than them—Thanatos' sword was but a needle in relation to its size—yet it cut clean through it without an issue.
Teleportation, huh? That's something to look forward to. It's probably just a matter of time.
[ The simple act of being on the moon seems to have diminished in shock value after having shot down a space alien, though... ]
That sword's impressive, all right. It sounds like you already know about him, so I might as well say it: the other Thanatos let me borrow his sword for a while so I could chop a few dragons up. It's a little big, but it cuts great. I'd love to have a sword like that...
[ But it's a dangerous thing to wish for, he knows. He loosens the weathered katana at his hip and sets it gently on the counter next to him. Ordinary though it is, it's served him well. ]
[ She wonders if Thanatos is ever going to be that strong again, or if she's holding him back by virtue of being who she is right now. Does he resent that, and is that why he doesn't talk to her so much? Or is he really just a quiet Persona? Troubling questions for someone who evidently is supposed to assist with such related matters... ]
Your sword looks well-loved. [ He might need a new one, but it's clear this one works, and she smiles slightly. ] I'm certain it'd serve you better than one like Thanatos' would, in the long run. It's difficult to adjust to something new.
[ One day he might have Sekki, but he's grown attached to his battered internet-bought sword. In truth, its blade is becoming chipped and quick to dull, but he prizes its reliability and sturdiness over its flashiness. Full of fond thoughts, his legs start to swing under him. ]
Because I know a couple! They used to be just swords in their other lives, see, but then they were given human bodies. One of 'em told me how happy he felt as a sword when he was with his master.
[ He picks up his katana and pounds the butt of its sheath on the counter. ]
Cool, huh?! It means I have to take care of this guy as much as he takes care of me!
[ he says as if he at all understands touken ranbu ]
But they wield themselves, so I'd need a new sword, I guess. It sounded like their masters kicked the bucket way before they were given bodies, so they didn't have to think about this stuff. If things go the way they did in my memories, I'm gonna be around a lot longer than your average guy.
Oh, right. Sounds quiet outside... It's now or never.
[ He stows the first-aid kit under the counter. The shrinekeepers probably won't assume that a local god was in an emergency situation and that breaking the lock was Perfectly Justified and divinely ordained, but maybe seeing that the first aid kit is the only thing out of place will... help...
Anyway, bye Seven Gods of Fortune. Yato takes his sword back up and sticks his head outside to make sure there's nothing prowling around. ]
[ She'll collect her things and, after thinking about it, put her book away. Even with a little rest, she's probably not up to snuff, and she'd rather not strain herself or Thanatos... can Personas get strained? ...Maybe. ]
Please. I'd feel much safer with a god by my side. [ ...though Thanatos also fills that position— never mind, she's just going to join Yato at the front and smile slightly. ] ...Thank you for all the help, Yato. I truly appreciate it, and I'm sorry I couldn't have done more to aid you earlier.
I still couldn't do as you had asked and taken care of that little girl when she arrived. No, I thought to speak to her instead... [ Mmm. ] Because I didn't think she was a threat, Thanatos wasn't on guard, and it culminated in my being distracted and getting hurt.
[ It was unnecessary. She won't let that girl pin the blame on Yato or anything either—she wanted to help, and any mistake of hers is hers alone? ]
You truly are a kind person, aren't you? Though I suppose that must come with the "god" territory. [ but she's thankful for the reassurance anyway. ] You're welcome.
[ Yato doesn't respond right away. He doesn't know if he's really kind, and even less if he'd have his godliness to thank for it. But that's a topic for another day.
He turns the conversation elsewhere, chattering until they arrive at Elizabeth's. Then, if there's nothing else, he'll wish her a good night and hop off! ]

You're not human?

[ He genuinely can't remember whom he tells anymore... ]
I wasn't always this way. It's... [ He wiggles a hand. ] Retrospec stuff.

[ He hops up to sit on the edge of the counter. Ever since he gained this weightless body of his, he's had an inexplicable preference for elevation. ]
In my other life, gods like me would take spirits in as retainers. Maybe you were something like that.
[ He crosses his arms. ]
The moon though, huh? What was that like?
