I'd prefer not to. [ She fidgets with her outfit; it's her cosplay she was wearing at the convention and got stuck in for most of August. ...Elda is in what Elizabeth last saw her in as well. ] I don't wish to hurt or do anything worse than that to anyone, Ms. Marker.
[ Even if it's going to hurt her... She doesn't want to? She doesn't like it. ]
When did she find the logic of it (to fight the monsters, to defend her sons, to save them) to be so easy to follow? The woman's eyes shift into catlike mode as she watches Elizabeth look so uncomfortable. She exhales softly, and then reaches a hand out to brush on the girl's shoulder.
She barely notices that she's in that outfit then, a nice little blouse and skirt combo. When she was there because Toushiro and Silver were there.
... ]
Well, that makes sense. So it's all duck and cover for now.
[ Monsters are easy, Elda. The ones that disappear into pixels? She doesn't have any problems with them, as long as they look... not-human.
...Things that bleed, though, are things she's less fond of going after. Elizabeth jerks a little at the touch, not entirely used to it, but nods. ]
I appreciate it more than you know. We'll have to get across the platforms first— [ she motions behind them; there's several now, though they look less-than-steady and they'll need a running start to get to ] but after that, I... believe we should be alright. There are a number of other rooms here.
[ Well that's... interesting. All of that is, and she gives Silver a curious look. They stick out where no one else does, herself and the dreamer aside.
She'll address Silver before they get on over to those two though, that seems vaguely more appropriate than just walking up to some people in his dream— ] Do you know those two?
[He probably would have kept staring in silence if Liz never said anything. As it stands, he focuses on them, and for a brief moment they flash into completely different outfits and looks, with sharp gold eyes, blue pigtails that defy gravity... But then they flash back again.]
I don't know their names. Even if I did, I'm sure they'd be different.
[His voice is surprisingly quiet, but his hesitance doesn't stop them- or at least Gold- from barreling in with entirely too much energy and eagerness.]
-Hey, excuse me! Yeah you, with the really light hair! Hey ████, how long do you think it took to get her hair like that?
[Crys, on the other hand, looks stern and exasperated, but is otherwise silent... Or silent might not be the best word for it. She's definitely saying something, but it isn't audible to anyone. He doesn't have to fill in all the details, after all. Just the emotions and enough context for it to still be a nightmare.]
[ ...Silver she is sort of a fog monster but she is still entirely made of metal despite her human-looking featuers, please enjoy how much that hurts—the close combat does the job of distracting her long enough that when her minotaur does come up, he doesn't dodge Kingdra's attack; no, he takes it full force with a roar and seems to... disappear completely with a sharp snapping sound. That's what makes her reel back with a shriek, butterfly ax clanging noisily onto the ground as she stumbles and grips her head— ]
What did you do, you brat? I won't lose here, I'll- I'll kill you! I'll—
[ Her voice breaks there, and her arms drop to her middle to hold herself; Thanatos raises his sword, though he doesn't do anything else as Elizabeth gives him a tired look.
The girl isn't attacking them anymore, and her Persona is likewise nowhere to be seen; she's probably not harmless, but she isn't actively doing them harm, either. ]
How could it end like this..? [ It's softer, still angry but more in the broken, frustrated way someone gets when they're out of tricks. ] It's all... completely ruined...
[ She barely has time to let Yato know she's understood (or ask if he's alright, even) before the wolves are coming; she backs up with a soft gasp into her Persona, but Thanatos is on them in an instant, slicing through three of them with one clean sweep of his sword.
They also disappear in a dark cloud, and Elizabeth realizes (and is thankful) that they're just like the monsters from the convention. That's good, that's really good—she can pretend they're just game monsters come to life or something. They're not real, not really, they won't bleed, it's fine, it's fine...
...Little girls are future Elizabeth's problem, right now present Elizabeth has to handle wolves. ]
Thanatos, wipe them out!
[ The Persona roars in reply, grabbing her and backing off with a jerking motion; a moment later, a ball of energy pools at the tip of his sword, and he slams it down into a good chunk of them... and probably too close to Yato for anyone's comfort. He flickers a bit, Elizabeth slipping back onto the ground, but solidifies after a moment.
Megidola is powerful, but it takes a lot out of her, and she has to catch her breath; sorry, Yato. ]
[ Yato is intimately familiar with the workings of Megidola, so he hurries away from the blast zone to take refuge near Elizabeth. It feels pretty good, seeing that move take down so many opponents at once (and also it not being aimed directly at Yato). When it's done, Yato is surprised to see Thanatos flickering and Elizabeth suddenly tired. Almost as if she's powering him... Yato bends to see if she's okay. ]
Hey, Elizabeth--
[ Before he can get any further, the movement of the remaining wolves regrouping catches his eye. It looks like Elizabeth needs a breather, so it's time for him to pull his weight. He raises his sword, forcing his left arm to work for him, and calls out into the fog. ]
Hiiro! I know you're out there!
[ The wolves pounce again. Seeing that Elizabeth is winded, some of them aim for her -- but Yato will do his best to cut them down and count on Thanatos to catch anything that slips through the cracks.
Though he's wounded, Yato's bladework remains impeccable. If there's one proof that he's the god of war his memories claim him to be, it'll be this: his blast-bitten internet-bought katana, the hilt warped and handle wrapped in colorful tennis racket grip to cover the damage, is even deadlier in his hands than the day he received it. He dances with the wolves, his blade arcing and biting with as much art as brutality. When claws or fangs find him, they never go unpunished; he sends wolves poofing away in a steady march, hardly feeling his injuries.
In the middle of all this, Elizabeth may feel a sudden presence at her side. A little black-haired girl in a white robe and a crooked triangle headband will be crouched next to her, her chin resting on her cupped hands. She makes no move to harm Elizabeth, but she does stare intently at Elizabeth, seemingly curious.
The walls—? [ Wait Mafuyu come back, she's not going to run to keep up with her?? ...So please enjoy the sudden invisible wall stopping you short while Elizabeth catches up at a brisk pace...
Oh. Those things. Her confusion's cleared, it's good— ] Those are always there, miss.
[ And... now that they're indeed together again, Mafuyu can walk ahead again. Go claim your... treasure? There's something that looks like one of those item chests from a video game ahead, with a spotlight and everything. Also, it definitely plays ITEM GET music when it's opened (and has a baseball bat in it). ]
[ Ah, the pop quiz... She remembers that! And she remembers not... doing so well on it either, or at least not up to her standards... More importantly though, music—Clair de Lune begins to play quietly in the background, but in bits and pieces? Similar to bird chirps. ]
I'd love to. I was considering getting a piano for the apartment to practice with there as well, but I don't believe we have the space for it... Perhaps a keyboard would work instead? [ Hmm. ] I'm afraid I don't know if there's any real difference between them, outside of size.
[ Is this Snow White: School Edition? He's unsettled by the tune even if he always thought background music adds to the tone. It's still weird.
Ah.. He can actually answer that. ]
Acoustic pianos have a nice sound to them... I'm guessing they're similar to other instruments where the wood helps with its sound. The keys are also weighted.
[ hmmm. ]
But a keyboard lets you play with different sounds. I also think they play some tunes by themselves?
[ Like who doesn't want to fuck around with the sound of wind chimes? ]
[ She glances ahead to where Chiyo points, then shakes her head. ]
I'm on my way home as well, to be honest. It's not likely that I'll worry anyone by staying out a little longer either—my roommates are fairly understanding about my scheduling. [ her.... insane scheduling. ] Don't worry too much, alright?
Not very nicely. [ she's hesitant when she says it, and she sighs before she softly counts them off on her fingers. ] Slipping off the platform and getting impaled by spikes, Dr. Halliday catching up to me and doing just what we did to him, or... slowly turning into something similar to him, except with one of the animals we all changed into when we ate the food here.
The last one wouldn't be so bad if not for that quick frankly freaky surgeon that showed up at the very end there.
I don't really dream about this all, but sometimes I dream about dyin'.
[ it's offered up as a sort of commiseration. ]
We all have our little nightmares, don't we? How nice of whatever this is to draw 'em out for show-and-tell. [ and that sounds sarcastic. ] ...Although it is kinda nice not to be alone sometimes.
Unfortunately, it wasn't. Actually, I was one of the people who fought him... [ And, as if hearing her admission, the were-llama gives a cry and is... definitely on the next platform. Elizabeth glances over her shoulder and turns to John, okay bud— ] How good are you at jumping?
[ Because there's another platform rising behind them, and it's a bit of a ways away, but nothing a running start can't get!! ]
God, please do not tell me this story ends in "I also turned into an animal." [But he shakes his head and he'll explain why he knows all of that later. There is trouble on the horizon or whatever and he whips his head around to glance behind him. He hears the question though and notices the platform, nodding slightly.]
I guess there is only one way to find out. Ready? [Because he's not going to leave her behind but they should maybe consider running, like, now.]
How should I explain it...? [ hm. ] Well, after completing the middle square, a QR code would appear. For those that completed multiple rows, there would be more... I managed to blackout my entire card over the month.
[ because she's not a sane person, and it really was a lot of fun? ]
There was a limit to the number of codes you could have though... I believe it was three. [ ...that sounds about right. ] At Retrospec's booth at the convention, they had a scanner where you could, well, scan them. They seemed to do nothing at first, but once monsters began showing up, treasure chests appeared according to how many you had scanned. I received a power, an item, and a wonderful companion from mine.
Models even have a specific walk...? How unexpected.
[ she'll demonstrate a little for him while they're still back here though, according to his instructions. swing her hips a little, but not too much... ]
[ She really is the strongest person she knows... It's awe-inspiring, and Elizabeth is glad this is a dream; she isn't as exhausted as she is in the real world, even with the despair egg trying its damnedest to convince her she is. She has to hold onto optimism though, to the assertion that they can win this or at least...

She isn't sure it's well at all, but she nods anyway, and tries to grin, too. It's a bit of a weird expression on her, since she doesn't usually do anything larger than a smile, but...
[Elizabeth's grin heartens Minako even more, and she nods, face set with determination as she turns away.]
Let's go.
[And with that, she dashes forward back into the fight. Red energy gathers quickly, and another explosion drops, but Minako keeps to the outside of the blast zone this time, and only staggers a little bit from the aftershocks. While Nyx is building up for another attack, she rushes the egg head-on, stabbing into it with her spear.

But now, with Elizabeth and Thanatos here, she has the power needed to get a solid hit in. So she ignores the incoming attack, ignores the pulsating light. Minako screams as she wrenches down on her spear, carving through the egg's surface as much as she can.]
[ Red, yeah? Like blood, right? Because that starts leaking down the walls, in steady streams. Elizabeth stares at it slowly beginning to pool around them and steps away from her corner to get away.
Every eye in the room latches onto her movement, heads turning into sometimes rather uncomfortably (impossible) angles for humankind. ]
I see... Dreams are often brought forth by the unconscious mind as well, aren't they? And they have many meanings ascribed to them as well, though I'm not certain how much I believe in those. [ ...she hasn't noticed that everyone's watching her every move now, uh; she's a little fixated on the blood. ]
